Immediately after finishing school, I got an offer to shadow in the camera department on a short indie film called "When Jesse Was Born". Next came a position as producer's assistant for a CityTV film called "Once A Fish". I came in contact with another Cap grad and we made a pact to drag each other along through the industry and get each other work whenever possible. We did that and worked together again on a TV movie for USA network and that led to the next project. People start out as volunteers and end up with paid positions. Every new project is a learning experience and all the connections I made through the program at Cap made the tuition worth every penny.

Since leaving Capilano I have worked as a Production Assistant on several productions including Godiva's, Smallville, The Dead Zone, The Fantastic Four, The Condemned and one called Bob the Butler starring Tom Green and Brooke Shields. Brooke Shields! Classic. As well, I"ve worked on multiple music videos and more commertials that I can even remember. It suits my lifestyle perfectly and I have Cap to thank for it They taught me everything I had to know about working on set and connections I made there help me get jobs today.

Producer and Production Coordinator, TELUS Executive Communications
After a very brief stint as a Producer's Assistant at Anagram Pictures, I took on the challenge of Production Coordinator for TELUS Executive Communications. We produce upwards of 250 corporate videos a year for internal and external audiences. In addition to coordinating, I'm now a Producer - actually writing and directing - and enjoy long days, tight deadlines and cross country travel.

After graduating from Cap, the first thing I had to really decide was where I wanted to focus my career. I decided to pursue three main areas; writing, directing and editing. That summer I entered the MPPIA short film contest with my script The Light of Family Burnam, and with the mentorship of former Cap faculty, ended up winning my pitch in Whistler and the award of $115,000 to make a calling card film that will hopefully start my career. Also this year, several graduates, including myself, have been nominated and won several awards for our short films. It is because of the guidance, experience, and overwhelming support from everyone at Capilano that we have these opportunities to integrate into the Vancouver film community and get our names out there as the next generation of filmmakers that will hopefully become a large part of the future indigenous industry and a stronghold for Canadian film.
