| Motion Picture Production Certificate Program
Program Overview
The two-term Motion Picture Production Certificate Program introduces students to the complex world of dramatic film and television production. While offering a general overview of the motion picture industry, it also explores in detail such elements as camera and lighting techniques, digital editing, screenplay analysis, film-related business basics, and cinematic history. Further, the intensive, digitally-based production schedule offers the students thorough, "hands-on" experience in the development, production and post-production phases of dramatic film production.
Based on industry-standard protocols and taught by seasoned film professionals, this curriculum provides the students not only with a solid foundation in the creative and technical aspects of film production, but also crucial team skills – such things as leadership, communication, collaboration, crisis management and group decision-making. The knowledge and skills acquired in this program will stand students in good stead no matter what further paths they ultimately choose; whether it be to seek out entry-level positions in BC's film industry, or continue their film education in Capilano College's rigorous second and third year programs in Motion Picture Production, or even to pursue other career directions entirely.
